Most people either have someone in their family who has an autistic child or knows someone who does. Recent studies show Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the U.S. Autism is a developmental disability that can cause significant social, communication, and behavioral challenges. A serious issue is early diagnosing.

It is mistaken as mental retardation or in many cases it’s seen as a child is “slow” and they will say he will eventually “catch up”. Our loved ones can be negatively affected throughout their lifespan if disparities in early diagnosis and treatment, health, special education and the criminal justice system are allowed to persist. It’s critical we learn more and take a stand on this important issue on their behalf. ********

Brothers, have you ever wondered why so many of our children are joining gangs? Or why they are failing in school? Or why are there so many teen pregnancies? Or why they are insensitive to each other?

One possible reason why our children are acting this way is that we choose to ignore what see and hear around us. We cannot and must not take the attitude of inaction until the above problems become personal.

We must begin to confront these problems and be willing to serve and protect our children as well as our community.

Teenage Pregnancy

In schools all over the country today, it is not uncommon to see a 15, 16, or 17 year old girl waddling in the hallways. It isn't rare to see a group of teenage mothers passing around ultra-sounds or baby pictures, either. In fact, it is too common. These days, teenagers are irresponsible and careless when dealing with the pressures of being in relationships. It is like an infectious disease, spreading throughout our community and influencing our children.

Although child bearing is a blessing and gift from God, our children should not be having children while in school. Something has to be done with the rate of teenage pregnancy and motherhood steadily growing. We have to educate our girls to learn how to say no and not to be so gullible. We have to teach our boys to respect our girls and not use them for playthings.

Something has to be done or soon all our babies will have babies and their babies will have babies and so on and so forth, the cycle will be never ending.

During this past summer, we were subjected to various points of view concerning health care reform. Americans were presented with the option of keeping their current plan or selecting a public option plan. The manner in which each side stated their case caused many to question their motives.

Whenever an advertisement has a mixture of truth and falsehood, it affects the way people respond. This manner of coloring the truth to gain an advantage could result in causing many people to become confused, frustrated and angry.

Speak the truth.

A True and Proper Education

We must come up with solutions to resolve the problems that we are faced with daily within our schools. One area that must be addressed and resolved is the lack of presence of us as men in our schools. This violation of our duty as men is a great contributor to the violence in the schools and streets that highlight the need for men to provide positive examples and role models for our young men and women to look up to.

We should take time to visit the schools to be aware of what is going on and volunteer our time to help? We must make a presence to stop the senseless violence that is taking place among our young.

It’s Flu Season

We’ve all heard so much about the flu this season. It seems that everywhere we turn information is given about getting a flu shot. As with any vaccination or shot, it’s a good idea to learn more about the ingredients and possible side effects. A little research on the internet revealed that some side effects could include the following: headache, malaise (feeling out-of-sorts), muscle pain, chills, nausea, fever, and vomiting.

A search of ingredients found the shots to include mercury among other things. It’s up to you to decide if you want to subject your body or anyone else you’re responsible for to this.

The Importance of a Healthy Self Image
Children form opinions of themselves early in their lives, and that opinion is shaped by the most important people in that child*s life: the parents. It is incumbent that children see themselves in a positive light so that they will not go through life thinking they are less than, not able to cultivate the best parts of themselves, and accept sub par treatment not only from others outside of themselves. They will not indulge in behavior that is self destructive.

Most young girls learn from their parents self love and self respect, in particular from the father figure in her life. This man teaches her what is acceptable behavior from other males, he shows her how she should be treated by a man, and he shows her how valuable she is by offering her a certain type of protection only a father can give.

If young women don*t see the value that God has placed on them by the attitudes and lessons learned at home through loving and strong parenting, then they will begin to accept disrespect from others all the while disrespecting themselves.

Media 1: a medium of cultivation, conveyance, or expression.
Mass medium: a medium of communication (as newspapers, radio, or television) that is designed to reach the mass of the people.

Im*age: a popular conception (as of a person, institution, or nation) projected especially through the mass media.

Have you noticed how we are being presented to the public? Occasionally, media has reported that we are deeply concerned about our community. However, the majority of the coverage has painted a different picture. It appears that reporting negative images is the order of the day.

If this is true, what can we do about it?

A true and proper education secures the natural essentials of life for the human being which is freedom, justice and equality. It frees the human being mentally to see their unlimited potential for excellence and mastery. It also opens the door for us to justify our existence as the crown of the Creator*s creation. Therefore as a result of the aforementioned, it provides the equality for all of us to equally express the uniqueness that is in all us. We need this kind of educational system to replace a corrupt educational system that is designed to dumb down the masses for the benefit of the elite classes.

*As summer approaches, so many of us look forward to the arrival of fresh berries. Blueberries, strawberries and many others are not only tasty and naturally sweet, but are loaded with tons of nutritional benefits as well. Strawberries are packed with vitamin C which helps our immune system. Blueberries are loaded too with minerals and antioxidants. Remember the expression, *The blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice.* There*s truth to it. The pigments that give berries their color, especially the blues and reds, contain substances called phytochemicals and flavonoids that help reduce and prevent some diseases like cancer. Additionally sisters, don*t forget those cranberries. They*re wonderful at helping to prevent urinary tract infections.

So, let*s eat some tasty berries!

*Cholesterol * We hear so much about it. Do you know your level? What exactly is it? To make a long story short, cholesterol is a fatty-like substance that is found in our bloodstream and cells. We need it because it helps to produce cell membranes and some hormones. The issue with it is that when too much of it builds up in our blood, it can lead to coronary heart disease and strokes. When our cholesterol levels are checked, the results are in two parts * LDL and HDL. To help transport cholesterol to our cells, substances called lipoproteins are used to do the job. LDL is low-density lipoprotein (the bad one) while HDL is high-density lipoprotein (the good one). LDL is the one that can slowly build up in our blood and cause us problems down the road. HDL is considered *good* because high levels of it seem to help fight against heart attacks. In upcoming issues, we*ll take a closer look at things we can do to keep a balance on our cholesterol levels.

I, personally, am proud to have a strong, black woman as our First Lady, running the country beside her strong, black man.

A new curriculum and structure of education must be set up to inspire students to take in the great virtue of learning. It is a process that must start from within that allows the students to identify with the author of all knowledge; Allah (God). To teach students in a way where they cannot identify themselves with the creator is to teach them that they are inferior. Quite the contrary when you teach the student in a way where they can identify with the creator, self, and outside of self you are teaching him/her to become a master. The denial of God is the denial of human excellence.

Greetings,
The government has just reported that at least 2.6 million Americans are unemployed. A number of states are operating their budgets in the red. As a result of this budget deficit, the funding for many of the services created to assist people is either being reduced or completely cut from their annual expenses.

Schools are functioning with a budget deficit and in some cases they have to contend with low student enrollment. Many families are now in the last stages of foreclosure. It is also reported that violent crime is on the rise.
What if anything can be done to change this trend? Is it possible that we can be part of the solution?

The answer is yes, and the time to act is now.

Daddy can I borrow $50.00?
A young boy 9 years old asked his father, daddy can I borrow $50, His father was taken a back, gave the boy an ugly look and blasted out at the boy, "I*m out here working hard, can barely pay these bills and here you come wanting me to do more, Take your behind to bed."

As he walked away he thought about his harsh response, He said to himself, let me find out what he wanted the money for, He went to the boy's room and said, son what do you want with $50, very stern. The boy while wiping the tears from his eyes responded, "When I asked you to go bike ridding or to the park with me you say you have to work, "Mom said you make $25 an hour, I wanted to buy two hours of your time." The father filled with shame could only grab his son with the biggest bear hug and thanked his son for a beautiful lesson then proceeded to take the mother and son to dinner. Point; find the time because some one will. Peace.

In order to ensure a proper and quality education for our children, it must be rooted in the divine laws and principles of Allah (God). He is the author of all knowledge and discipline. Therefore it is only right that we have Him at the root of the educational process. Also, there must be a strong coalition between parents, teachers and students to create a wholesome environment for our children to have a true and quality education. Parents must do their part in properly preparing their children so that teachers can do their jobs. The parents must recognize that discipline does not begin in the classroom but rather at home. This will ensure the student will have the discipline necessary to be properly educated.

Hot Summer Reading
This summer I read a book that will knock you out of your socks! It's called "Speak, Rwanda" and it is written by Julian Pierce. "Speak, Rwanda" is a novel about ten people living in Rwanda. These people are men, women and children; Tutsi and Hutu. All of their stories are told: Including the slaughter and massacre of innocent people. This book is thrilling, gruesome, and merciless. And even though I recommend this book to all that can stand to read it, it is not for the weak of heart. But don't take my word for it; I read it for school. The end.

Greetings Brothers and Sisters.
Domestic Violence is a physically or emotionally harmful act between husbands and wives or between other individuals in intimate relationships or former spouses. Domestic violence also affects children who witness these acts. Depression, hopelessness, and other forms of emotional distress in infants, adolescents and teenagers are strongly associated with exposure to domestic violence. Some may have a problem coping with others when they become adults.
It is also believed that children may exhibit violence towards other children or may have a tendency to identify with the aggressor and to lose respect for the victim. We can no longer afford to allow our family structure to deteriorate because of this kind of abuse.
